The Hudson-Mohawk Search and Rescue Team is a Not-For-Profit 501(c)(3) corporation established to provide search and rescue service to NYSDEC Area 4, the Adirondack and Catskill Mountains, and western New England.
Our philosophy is to provide our organization’s volunteers with training in SAR techniques and methodology and to provide emergency response organizations with highly trained personnel to assist in SAR situations.
Our membership is very diverse with various professional backgrounds. Our board of directors includes present and retired police and medical professionals. We focus on specific training for our membership to provide the most appropriate assistance to the requesting agency.
HuMSAR is prepared to assist agencies or work alone in an area search for missing persons, gathering evidence and information that can help lead to a successful outcome. This includes line searches and hasty searches of a given area or trail.
Our primary area of operation is NYSDEC Region 4: Albany, Columbia, Delaware, Greene, Montgomery, Otsego, Rensselaer, Schenectady, and Schoharie Counties. We will also respond to any call in Eastern New York and Western New England, as well as the Adirondack and Catskill Parks when requested.
